The type species of section Zapotecorum, named for the Zapotec people of Oaxaca and one of the larger, more robust species in the genus. This New South Wales collection is of particular taxonomic interest, since the species' core range lies in Mexico and Central/South America while the section has very close Australasian relatives. Supplied as a spore specimen for microscopy, showing the section's characteristically thin‑walled, subrhomboid spores with a truncate germ pore. These are very rare spores, certainly not easily available on the open market.
