Subtropicalis Tres Soles

Psilocybe subtropicalis is a species native to subtropical regions of Mexico, typically found in moist, forested environments rich in leaf litter and decaying wood and usually at elevation. The name Tres Sole gives reference to the specific region these mushrooms inhabit.

The fruiting body features a bell-shaped to convex cap that becomes broadly convex or plane with age, often a warm tan to caramel colour, sometimes with faint radial striations. The stipe is slender, pale cream to yellowish. This species is known to appear singly or in small groups along forest trails or among mossy undergrowth in shaded areas.
