McKennaii is known for its association with the renowned psychonaut Terence McKenna, who extensively explored the world of psychedelics. He wrote multiple books and was a pioneer in the field, devoting much of his life to psychedelic research. Terence and his brother Dennis spent time in the Amazon bringing spores back to the USA. They were reknowned for their experimentation which led them to discovering various cultivation methods of the species. They authored these findings in Psilocybin: Magic Mushroom Grower's Guide as published in 1976.
These mushrooms are a classic Psilocybe Cubensis strain to research under the microscope. Psilocybe Cubensis McKennaii (MCK) is a member of the Strophariaceae family. Characterised by its distinct elongated shapes and a dark brown colour.
