Overview

Solmac is a unique isolate developed by Nichy Myco. It comes from the Melmac  lineage, which itself originates from the well-known Penis Envy strain.

This lineage is known for its vigorous, consistent growth. One standout feature is the way the caps often split as they mature quickly, a trait that gives Solmac its signature “Sol” split-cap appearance, especially around the edges.

It’s an interesting isolate with a distinct look and growth pattern that we think you'll love!

How we prepare spores

We use our years of experience to ensure that whatever format you prefer — you get your spores in tip-top condition.

Syringe. Under a laminar flow hood using strict aseptic technique, spores are carefully scraped from lab grade prints directly into sterile distilled water. We draw them up fresh for every order (no being stored in bulk).

Swab. Certain genetics (like Penis Envy) either release a small amount of spores or none at all so collecting them becomes more difficult for a print — this is where swabs are useful. They are made by wiping a sterile cotton swab across the gills on the underside of a mature mushroom's cap. Don’t worry — this is done in a suitably legal country!

FAQs

Are Solmac spores legal?

Yes, it is legal to possess and sell Solmac spores in the UK, but it is illegal to grow or consume them. Those outside the UK should be familiar with the legal status of magic mushroom spores for their jurisdiction - according to the intended purpose. Microscopy is a rapidly growing activity.

How do I choose a strain to study?

It really depends on what you're looking for. Consider the characteristics you're most interested in, such as shape, size, colour or the history and genetics of a particular strain. If you're unsure, our strain descriptions provide more information to help you compare your options. Read more on choosing mushroom spores for microscopy

Using your spores

  • For best results use immediately.
  • Let the syringe come to room temperature if it's been refrigerated, then gently shake it to re-suspend the spores evenly.
  • Wipe down your workspace with an alcohol wipe to keep things sterile, and note that the needle should be re-sterilised (e.g. with a flame or alcohol wipe) between each slide to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Don't forget to wait 10 seconds for the needle to cool.

Best for Storage

  • If not using right away — store somewhere cool and dark, ideally 4-8°C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources - in the fridge is perfect.
  • Keep sealed when not in use.
  • Avoid freezing and direct sunlight.
  • Avoid repeated temperature changes.
  • We recommend to use them within 6 months but it's not uncommon for them to last years.

Payment

We currently only accept bank transfer — full details are provided upon checkout.

Why don't we accept card payments? Unfortunately despite progress, the industry is still heavily stigmatised (from banks) which means that even payment gateways such as PayPal don't provide a service for any spore provider based in the UK (also the reason that you cannot buy these spores on the high street).

We encourage you to read our customer reviews to see the experiences others have had with us.
