Product Description
Our coir and vermiculite mix is ready to go hydrated to field capacity. Field capacity relates to the relative moisture content of the soil required for the mushrooms fruiting bodies to harvest. It's not necessary to have gypsum as part of your coir mix as the mushrooms take their nutrient requirement from the fully colonised grain spawn which is plentiful.
However we do also offer a CVG mix if that is what's required - available in different sizes. If you're growing a mushroom which is prone to blobbing or stalling then we recommend a higher ratio of substrate to grain spawn.
* All of our substrate is sterilised at 15 PSI for 3 hours.

- Coir & Vermiculite Bulk Substrate will last approximately 3 months in a cool environment. We recommended to store it in the freezer and take it out a day before use.
- Do I need to add any water?
- No - this substrate is already hydrated to field capacity.

- How do I use this item?
- Mix it with a fully colonised mushroom media. We recommend at least an inch covering on top.

- Autoclaves operate at high temperature and pressure in order to kill microorganisms and spores. They are used to decontaminate certain biological waste and sterilise media, instruments and lab ware.
- Why is an autoclave important?
- To grow mushrooms effectively conditions must be sterile ensuring that there isn't any contamination.
What Will I receive?
When will I receive my Coir & Vermiculite Bulk Substrate?
Coir & Vermiculite Bulk Substrate takes 24 hours to prepare so orders completed before noon (on a UK working day) will be dispatched on the next working day, i.e. Mon-Fri & non-holidays (UK). Orders made after noon (again on a UK working day) will be dispatched the day after the next working day. Please allow 2-3 days delivery time from dispatch. Outside the UK, times can vary greatly - so it is better to order well in advance.
