Overview

Our APE Revert, a variant of Psilocybe cubensis, originates from the well-known and robust Albino Penis Envy strain, explaining the acronym "APE" (Albino Penis Envy). The term Revert signifies a return to an earlier phenotype in this strain.

The objective of reverting APE to a phenotype more akin to PE is thought to enhance potency and yield. However, this modification does impact other characteristics of the mushrooms. In contrast to Penis Envy or APE, APE Revert mushrooms do not exhibit the distinctive phallic shape or the pure whiteness associated with APE. The spores are unstable in nature and may present as more of a P. Cubensis phenotype. APE-R revert was created in order to retain the potency of APE but with ability to drop spores. 

Most instances display a lighter colouration compared to regular mushrooms but still retain some pigmentation. APE Revert caps also appear broader and more convex. These APE-R spores are purple with subellipsoid shape.

How we prepare spores

We use our years of experience to ensure that whatever format you prefer — you get your spores in tip-top condition.

Syringe. Under a laminar flow hood using strict aseptic technique, spores are carefully scraped from lab grade prints directly into sterile distilled water. We draw them up fresh for every order (no being stored in bulk).

Swab. Certain genetics (like Penis Envy) either release a small amount of spores or none at all so collecting them becomes more difficult for a print — this is where swabs are useful. They are made by wiping a sterile cotton swab across the gills on the underside of a mature mushroom's cap. Don’t worry — this is done in a suitably legal country!

Yes, it is legal to possess and sell Albino Penis Envy Revert spores in the UK, but it is illegal to grow or consume them. Those outside the UK should be familiar with the legal status of magic mushroom spores for their jurisdiction - according to the intended purpose. Microscopy is a rapidly growing activity.

Using your spores

  • For best results use immediately.
  • Let the syringe come to room temperature if it's been refrigerated, then gently shake it to re-suspend the spores evenly.
  • Wipe down your workspace with an alcohol wipe to keep things sterile, and note that the needle should be re-sterilised (e.g. with a flame or alcohol wipe) between each slide to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Don't forget to wait 10 seconds for the needle to cool.

Best for Storage

  • If not using right away — store somewhere cool and dark, ideally 4-8°C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources - in the fridge is perfect.
  • Keep sealed when not in use.
  • Avoid freezing and direct sunlight.
  • Avoid repeated temperature changes.
  • We recommend to use them within 6 months but it's not uncommon for them to last years.

Unfortunately despite progress, the industry is still heavily stigmatised (from banks) which means that even payment gateways such as PayPal don't provide a service for any spore provider based in the UK (also the reason that you cannot buy these spores on the high street).
