Overview

The Jedi Mind F*ck mushroom belongs to the Hymenogastraceae family and carries a distinctive appearance, featuring a caramel-coloured cap with a conical shape and enchanting veil. Sometimes this variety exhibits a darker cap as seen in the pictures.

Psilocybe cubensis var Jedi Mind F*ck (JMF) is a strain of uncertain origins, believed to have been identified in the early 2000s by individuals known as Myco Joe or Agar Joe. There are speculations that it might have derived from Z-strain or originated in the wild in Georgia, USA. Despite the uncertainty surrounding its beginnings, Jedi Mind F*ck has been consistently stabilised over nearly two decades.

The strain, often abbreviated as JMF, shares the enigmatic background common to many Psilocybe Cubensis varieties. In a departure from the usual naming conventions, JMF draws inspiration from the Star Wars universe, particularly the Jedi, a quasi-religious order known for using the force to maintain order and justice.

In contrast to well-established strains like Golden Teacher, utilised by indigenous people for centuries, Jedi Mind F*ck is a relatively new entrant, emerging in the early 2000s and JMF spores have proven ro be a great choice for beginner microscopists.

How we prepare spores

We use our years of experience to ensure that whatever format you prefer — you get your spores in tip-top condition.

Syringe. Under a laminar flow hood using strict aseptic technique, spores are carefully scraped from lab grade prints directly into sterile distilled water. We draw them up fresh for every order (no being stored in bulk).

Swab. Certain genetics (like Penis Envy) either release a small amount of spores or none at all so collecting them becomes more difficult for a print — this is where swabs are useful. They are made by wiping a sterile cotton swab across the gills on the underside of a mature mushroom's cap. Don’t worry — this is done in a suitably legal country!

Yes, it is legal to possess and sell Jedi Mind F*ck spores in the UK, but it is illegal to grow or consume them. Those outside the UK should be familiar with the legal status of magic mushroom spores for their jurisdiction - according to the intended purpose. Microscopy is a rapidly growing activity.

Using your spores

  • For best results use immediately.
  • Let the syringe come to room temperature if it's been refrigerated, then gently shake it to re-suspend the spores evenly.
  • Wipe down your workspace with an alcohol wipe to keep things sterile, and note that the needle should be re-sterilised (e.g. with a flame or alcohol wipe) between each slide to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Don't forget to wait 10 seconds for the needle to cool.

Best for Storage

  • If not using right away — store somewhere cool and dark, ideally 4-8°C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources - in the fridge is perfect.
  • Keep sealed when not in use.
  • Avoid freezing and direct sunlight.
  • Avoid repeated temperature changes.
  • We recommend to use them within 6 months but it's not uncommon for them to last years.
