Sterilised Organic Rye Grain

Our locally sourced organic Rye Grain has been hand selected. Prior to sterilisation our grain is carefully rinsed and soaked. We add a percentage of calcium sulphate to help balance the PH plus it plays a role in cell wall formation and mycelium development which contribute to healthy mycelial growth, strong fruiting bodies, and overall higher yields.

Mushrooms prefer a slightly acidic to neutral PH range so it also helps absorb and retain moisture by absorbing excess water and releasing it slowly as when needed. Complete with self-healing injection port and a filter to help with gas exchange, minimise contaminants and maintain moisture control.

* Our organic rye grain is sterilised at 15 PSI for 3 hours.

How do I use this Organic Rye Grain?

Inject your mushroom spore syringe into the Organic Rye Grain via your self-healing port and let the mycelium do its thing. Once the magical mycelium has colonised the Organic Rye Grain and it is all white, then you can mix it in with your substrate.

Of course this is all assuming that you want to grow mushrooms but you could also… fill a balloon with your grain and use it as an eco-friendly stress ball. Half-fill a container with your grain and use it as some homemade maracas. Hell you could even feed your grain to the birds. But whatever you do, for the love of God - do not use your Organic Rye Grain to be growing magic mushrooms !!

How long does this Organic Rye Grain last?

Organic Rye Grain will last approximately 6-12 months in a cool, dark environment. We recommended to store it in a sealed container ensuring that it is suitably protected from pests.

Organic Rye Grain takes 24 hours to prepare so orders completed before noon (on a UK working day) will be dispatched on the next working day, i.e. Mon-Fri & non-holidays (UK). Orders made after noon (again on a UK working day) will be dispatched the day after the next working day. Please allow 2-3 days delivery time from dispatch. Outside the UK, times can vary greatly - so it is better to order well in advance.
