Overview

The genesis of the Tidal Wave mushroom is attributed to Doma, who accomplished a pioneering feat by crossbreeding the Be Positive and Penis Envy strains. This unique fusion resulted in a distinct magic mushroom strain and the precursor to the Brainiac and Enigma strains. When examined there can be a variation in phenotype or growth pattern. These differences may encompass specifically the colour and size.

The process of creating hybrid strains involves blending the DNA of two different mushroom cultures within the same species by isolating the monokaryotic culture of desired strains. Monokaryotic cultures, possessing only one set of DNA, cannot independently produce fruiting bodies. They generate dikaryotic mycelium that forms mushrooms only when introduced to another group of monokaryotic cultures. This method does not consistently yield a reliable new strain and often requires repeated attempts to establish stable genetics.

When viewing Tidal Wave spores under the microscope expect a spherical structure subellipsoid. This is usually a dark, purplish-brown colour. Tidal Wave was the winner of the Psilocybin cup in 2021 and has gained substantial prominence since.

How we prepare spores

We use our years of experience to ensure that whatever format you prefer — you get your spores in tip-top condition.

Syringe. Under a laminar flow hood using strict aseptic technique, spores are carefully scraped from lab grade prints directly into sterile distilled water. We draw them up fresh for every order (no being stored in bulk).

Swab. Certain genetics (like Penis Envy) either release a small amount of spores or none at all so collecting them becomes more difficult for a print — this is where swabs are useful. They are made by wiping a sterile cotton swab across the gills on the underside of a mature mushroom's cap. Don’t worry — this is done in a suitably legal country!

Are Tidal Wave spores legal?

Yes, it is legal to possess and sell Tidal Wave spores in the UK, but it is illegal to grow or consume them. Those outside the UK should be familiar with the legal status of magic mushroom spores for their jurisdiction - according to the intended purpose. Microscopy is a rapidly growing activity.

How do I choose a strain to study?

Using your spores

  • For best results use immediately.
  • Let the syringe come to room temperature if it's been refrigerated, then gently shake it to re-suspend the spores evenly.
  • Wipe down your workspace with an alcohol wipe to keep things sterile, and note that the needle should be re-sterilised (e.g. with a flame or alcohol wipe) between each slide to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Don't forget to wait 10 seconds for the needle to cool.

Best for Storage

  • If not using right away — store somewhere cool and dark, ideally 4-8°C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources - in the fridge is perfect.
  • Keep sealed when not in use.
  • Avoid freezing and direct sunlight.
  • Avoid repeated temperature changes.
  • We recommend to use them within 6 months but it's not uncommon for them to last years.
